The VisitBath.com website has been supported by Maine Hosting Solutions for over 10 years now, beginning with the Bath Business Association. In 2001 VisitBath.com came under the direction of Main Street Bath. Over the years VisitBath.com has had a couple of different renovations, most notably the addition of the online local business database in 2003 and a dynamic events calendar.

November 1st, 2008 marks the release of the latest and greatest renovation to this website to date.

New Features:

• WordPress, an open source content management system.
• A new directory database management system.
• A new dynamic calendar system that pulls from several iCal Calendars can now easily be maintained by several individuals.
• An ecommerce module to allow easy donations, and the ordering of MSB Products such as the Stilphen Mural Prints.
• An intuitive Banner Ad management system to easily track ad sponsors.
• An integrated email contact management system.
• An advanced only web design system to create attractive and interactive new pages on the fly.

The Process:

The entire old website first went through an extensive tear down. After years of abuse the code had been bloated and desperately needed cleaning. Bringing the old site into the new WordPress structure and the configuration of all the extensive modules took a large collaborative volunteer effort by the Maine Hosting Solutions Staff, with over 100 hrs of volunteer time the NEW VisitBath.com is ready for public viewing.

The process is an ongoing evolution that constantly takes tweaks the WordPress structure, as well content management.
