Bath Natural Market. 36 Centre Street. website
When did you begin the enterprise? (and where if not Bath) There has been a health food store at 36 Centre Street for nearly 40 years. I took it over during the summer of 2004.
Why? I was looking for a business that I could grow with, that would encourage positive personal development and that would help me to integrate within a community.
What do you offer? We offer lots of local and organic foods. We also offer vitamins, gifts, home goods, and body-care items. We are an all-natural general store.
Why do you love Bath? Bath has character stemming from hundreds of years of history and evolution. Our citizens reflect old and new ideas and the city is evolving alongside those ideas.
What might surprise someone about you or your business? Often the local health food store is thought of as being expensive. We work hard to keep our prices down and have many bargains on our shelf.
What are you excited about in the coming year? I have a new son, Gus, I am excited to watch him grow and watch him play in the store.
In conjunction with a new initiative, we’re also asking: What favorite local non-profits do you support? In 2016, we made cash donations to the following non-profits: The Girls Scouts The Boy Scouts Maine Adaptive Sports Midcoast Lyme Disease Support and Education B&W Classic Camp Susan Curtis RSU1 Odyssey of the Mind Wiscasset Heat Cheerleaders Bath Area Food Bank Bath Area Backpack program Oasis Free Clinic Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bath Brunswick The Food Mobile Kennebec Area Land Trust
