Alison Lee Freeman
Alison Lee Freeman is a 21st century chantey singer with an extraordinary voice easily heard over gale force winds. In performance the vivacious balladeer mixes traditional songs of the sea with newly renovated folk songs. Bath is a city rich in traditions, stories, and songs. Music of celebration as new ships slipped down the ways into the mighty Kennebec River, sea chanteys to help the sailors raise the sails of their ocean bound ships, gentle music played in the parlors of ship captain’s homes, and songs of temperance as Maine led the country towards prohibition. Join in on the chorus for a journey back in time and learn history the old fashioned way through entertaining songs and stories. Freeman performs regularly in Maine, Massachusetts, and Newfoundland at a variety of diverse venues such as the museums, festivals, bookstores, clubs, and assisted living facilities. Recordings are available in Bath at The Maine Maritime Museum Gift Shop, Bath Book Shop, and Lisa Marie’s Made in Maine or online at Apple iTunes.
