History of BIW

September 12, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Herman “Nick” Nichols wraps up the Maine’s First Ship summer lecture series.  Nick is a 37-year resident of Bath with a 30-year career at Bath Iron Works, including time as Program Manager for the DDG program.  In addition, he spent 7 years on active duty in US Navy aviation, with 23 years in the Navy Reserves, retiring as a Captain.

Nick will give an overview of Bath Iron Works, from its inception in 1884 to where things stand today as the only remaining shipyard in the “City of Ships.”  Come hear the rich history of BIW, including its importance to the US Navy during World War II, and take away an understanding of what the future might hold for ‘the yard.”

The presentation will be from 7-8pm followed by questions and answers and light refreshments.

Seating is limited; call Maine’s First Ship to register: 207-443-4242.

Please join MFS for Summer in the Freight Shed 2019.
