For those not familiar with the play, it’s a comedy of (bad) manners about two newly-married couples honeymooning in adjacent rooms at the same hotel, and sharing a common balcony. The trouble is that the husband of one couple was formerly married to the wife of the other couple. Complications ensue.
The play premiered in 1930 and featured a remarkable cast including Coward himself, Gertrude Lawrence, and Laurence Olivier. Some literary critics consider it to be Coward’s finest work
