The New Look Of An Old Fashioned Christmas
This year we are working hard to keep you and Santa safe! While we won’t be able to sit on Santa’s lap, you will have access to live stream video of Santa lighting the Community Christmas Tree. As you are shopping downtown this season, you may see Santa pop up in unexpected and joyous ways! He will be helping to bake cookies with Now You’re Cooking. He will be turning heads as he rides through the streets with Mrs. Claus on a four wheeler! You may even get a chance to take your photo in front of a giant snow globe, with Santa safely inside.
Your safety is paramount this year with masks a solid expectation at this time, both indoors and out. Many shops and restaurants are offering curbside service or online ordering features so you can continue to stay safe and shop local. Make sure to be following all your stores and Main Street Bath on Facebook / Instagram for continuous updates, sales and holiday cheer. This is the year we focus on taking care of each other, and the holidays are a great reason to keep our local businesses alive!
Magic Letter Boxes
Our two charming red wooden letter boxes will be placed at upper and lower Front Street this year. Not only can you drop in a letter to Santa, but you can also drop in a letter to a senior who may need some cheering up and connection during a year like we’ve had. Consider both! These letter boxes also serve as collection spots for Downtown Window Decorating Contest and Neighborhood Decorating Contest votes. They will remain available until December 19th!
Your Ticket to Old Fashioned Christmas!
Old Fashioned Christmas Brochures will be printed and distributed to our downtown shops the first week of December. These very important, and super festive hand outs will contain the map of our Neighborhood Decorating Contest as well as your chance to vote on the Window Decorating Contest for our local businesses. Makes sure to follow Main Street Bath on Facebook to get notified on when these arrive from the North Pole (aka. Bath Printing Company!).
Neighborhood Decorating Contest
Over twenty houses within a mile of City Hall have signed up to be judged as the best house decorated for the holiday! The back of our Old Fashioned Christmas Brochure has a map, and we encourage you to take a holiday drive. Make sure to put your vote in one of the two Magic Letter Boxes on Front Street. Main Street Bath will live stream Santa announcing the winner via Facebook on December 19th.
Santa Sightings on Saturdays
There are four Saturdays between Thanksgiving and Christmas and four chances you might see Santa pop up, out and about in town. Covid-19 prevents Santa from having close contact this year but that won’t stop him from spreading joy! Keep your eyes peeled, Santa might drive by on a four wheeler, participate in baking cookies at Now You’re Cooking or appear inside a giant snow globe! Follow Main Street Bath on Facebook to see Santa’s live stream tour of the Neighborhood Decorating Contest and announcement of the winner on December 19th.
Downtown Window Decorating Contest
Our festively decorated downtown is shining brighter than ever this year! Our shops are getting competitive to win your vote, dazzling their window displays with many staying open late the three Fridays before Christmas. Vote for your favorite on the back of this brochure! Submit your vote by dropping it in one of the two Magic Letter Boxes on upper and lower Front Street. Follow Main Street Bath on Facebook to see Santa live-streaming the winner on December 19th.
Season of Giving
In the spirit of the holidays, children and adults are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items to collection spots throughout our downtown. Wilson’s Drug Store, Island Treasure Toys, Bath Savings Institution, First Federal Savings and Loan, ECO Beauty Bar, Patten Free Library, Five County Credit Union, Bracket’s Market, Midcoast Federal Credit Union, Pitter Patter and Now You’re Cooking are all partnering as donation locations!
