Sally Lobkowicz, Red Cloak Haunted History Tours

Offering walking tours in Bath.

When did you begin the enterprise? (and where if not Bath)

I began Red Cloak Haunted History Tours in Damariscotta in 2007, expanding to a new town or venture every year. Bath was added to my lantern lit walking tours in 2010. I started out just during October and have slowly worked up to a 6 month time frame – May through October.

History has always been something I’ve been very interested in, particularly early American history. The ghost stories and haunts seem to be a perfect fit, as they are intertwined with history in one way or another. There were no walking tours in the mid-coast area, so it all fell into place.

What do you offer?

We are now open in 9 Maine towns for lantern lit walks, cemetery tours, lighthouse cruises and specialty tours. We also do speaking engagements, presentations and school groups. Last year we began a partnership with Maine Maritime Museum for some of these offerings. Our tours are family friendly.

Why do you love Bath?

We love the small town/city feel of Bath. The history, the architecture and the location right on the river are amazing.

What might surprise someone about you or your business?

Many people are surprised that I am not a native Mainer, due to the amount of history that I know. I am originally from Nevada, having moved here 40 years ago. My father’s family, both maternal and paternal sides, came from Maine in the early 1800’s, though. I am cousins to the Bath Shaws.

What are you excited about in the coming year?

We are excited to continue the very unique tours that we have in place, but also to see what new discovery might pop up that we can incorporate into our offerings.
