When did you begin the enterprise?
The Coastal Journal has been around since 1966. We just celebrated our 50th anniversary last year. I have worked with or directly for the Coastal Journal since 2007, first as a contributor, and in 2013, I came on board as assistant editor, then editor in 2015.
What do you offer?
The CJ, as we call it, is a free weekly community newspaper. We offer businesses and readers hyper local news and information, covering Freeport to Waldoboro.
Why do you love Bath?
Bath is a vibrant city that offers the people who live here a strong sense of community. You can make a life in Bath. I’m not sure every small city in Maine can say that.
What might surprise someone about you or your business?
There are only six full-time employees!
What are you excited about in the coming year?
The Coastal Journal has undergone a design transformation in the last six months and in the next few months our website redesign will launch. That’s exciting because we will be able to post news as it happens and information as it becomes available – something we are not able to do with our current platform.

The CJ supports non-profits in all of our communities. We don’t have a favorite … too many to choose from.
