Kickoff to Summer!

Well, here we are at the official start of the summer season, Memorial Day Weekend! I hope you all have big plans with friends and families and will get Downtown to support local businesses, not just this weekend but throughout the summer. Remember, you are our best ambassadors for visitors to our community. Just be your friendly, helpful self and make sure they know they are welcome.

There are a number of Memorial Day events organized by the American Legion again this year, including the Memorial Day Parade on Monday. Check here for a few more details.

There is a lot to share so I'll get to work doing just that. Be sure to check out the Community Calendar for all kinds of great things going on.

Downtown Flowers

Throughout the Main Street Bath strategic planning process, our “Downtown Flowers” has repeatedly been noted as one of the reasons people love Bath. The flower baskets not only brighten up Bath, but they help create an inviting downtown for locals and visitors. Businesses benefit from the cheerful blooms and we all take pride in the added color these baskets bring.
We hope you will join Main Street Bath and the 2018 Friends of Flowers Committee in continuing to make downtown Bath bloom. When each of us does something, no one has to do everything.

Please consider giving to our flower fund at one of the following levels:
Vinca Vine - $10.00
Petunia - $25.00
Geranium - $50.00
Adopt-a-Basket - $125.00
Please send donations to Main Street Bath, 15 Centre Street, Bath, Maine 04530.
We appreciate your contribution and look forward to seeing you downtown this summer!

New Faces New Places

There are a number of new businesses that have opened Downtown in the last few months. How I miss Jane Morse (on many levels), who used to write an article for the MSB newsletter called New Faces, New Places. Be sure to check out these new businesses, introduce yourself and see what they have to offer!

Nova Trapeze Yoga
Bath Brewing Company
Southgate Restaurant
No Coward Soul
Concinnity Deli and Lounge (coming June 1st!)

I know of a couple of other businesses coming as well. Stay tuned. Bath is buzzing!

Summer Concerts

There will be an additional night of concerts this summer which makes 4 nights a week for free, live music in Downtown Bath! Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays (Saturdays are in Waterfront Park and put on by the Chocolate Church Arts Center.)

Art Walk

The Bath Art Walk will begin on the third Friday in June and continue on the third Friday each month through September. All locations are right in the Downtown and very walkable. There will be live music, and of course great restaurants when you've worked up an appetite. Admire what our local artists are creating, I am in awe of their talents.

Did you see this great article in the Portland Press last week?, Like its People, Bath's Art Scene Remains Authentic . Take a minute to read it, it's a good one.

Downtown Tomorrow

Main Street Bath's Board of Directors continue on the journey of the strategic planning process. Working with Craig Freshly of Good Group Decisions, there has been a community meeting of 160 caring residents, group interviews including business owners and nonprofits, and many individual interviews. The Board had a 7 hour retreat earlier in the month to look at the collected information to make plans to move the organization forward on a healthy path. And we’re not done yet!

On Thursday, July 19th at 6:00 in the Patten Free Library Community Room, we will share our findings and roll out a plan for the future of Downtown Tomorrow! We still have a lot to do in preparation. In the meanwhile, check out the Public Input Report
