Main Street Bath Merchant News

Merchant Email

Ever have one of those days? I worked on this email throughout the week and was about to press send and lost everything! Please take the time to read through what has been recreated so you know what's going on, because there is a lot. And it will make me feel better :)

I do hope you all had a great Mayfair Weekend. The weather Saturday was just perfect. I heard a lot of good feedback going around town to businesses and yard sales. If you want to help make this event, or any event better, we need YOU to come to Promotions Committee meetings! They are held the 2nd Tuesday of each month, 8:15am in the MSB office. Get involved!

Take some time to familiarize yourself with upcoming events. Know why people are here. And remember, visitors are looking for advice from locals more than just information. What advice do you have to give about Bath?

Flower Letter (PDF)

Dear Downtown Merchants,
“Downtown flowers,” is one of the often noted items about what makes Bath special we have heard while going through the process of Main Street Bath’s strategic plan this year. For more than 17 years, MSB’s Design Committee has worked to coordinate the beautiful flowers cascading from the downtown light posts and the wonderful flower boxes placed throughout the district. This special program brings life and color to our downtown sidewalks and attracts visitors from home and away.
Here is your chance to take part and have an attractive flower box outside your own store CARE FREE! From June through October you can have a box filled with flowers, weeded, deadheaded, fed and watered regularly by Hawkes Farm and Greenhouses for only $135.

Show your dedication to making our downtown even more beautiful! Fill out the attached form and return to Main Street Bath by May 31st, 2018 to reserve a flower box for your location.
Thank you for loving Bath!

Maine Ulster Scots Project

There is a box in the office if you'd like to entice these attendees to come to your business. This goes for any business, you don't have to be just downtown! MSB will certainly be supplying them with the Bath Brochure. And while you're at it, bring down what you'd like to make available for the Cruise Ships coming in this summer.

Request for Brochures

During the week of Aug 14 – 18, 2018, the Maine Ulster Scots Project will be hosting a conference at Bowdoin College in Brunswick to celebrate 300 years of Scots-Irish growth and influence in the local area. This celebration will be capped off by the Highland Games at the Topsham Fairgrounds on Aug 18. We are anticipating between 150 and 200 registrations for the event from outside the area, including approximately 30 from Northern Ireland, and we want to encourage people to come early and stay late to visit the area.

To that end, we intend to assemble a packet for each registrant containing brochures and information about as many local businesses as wish to participate. We would also encourage any special offers any business might wish to extend to these visitors, such as coupons or other offers. These offers will only be included in packets for registrants to the conference, so special offers can also be restricted to those folks and/or those dates. All participants will have individualized identification badges for our event.

Because of the effort involved in assembling the packets, we request that 200 copies of any materials be delivered to us no later than June 15. Materials can be delivered to the Bath Visitor Center and marked as being for the Maine Ulster Scots Project Conference in August, or email can be sent to . and we will arrange to pick them up. Any questions can be sent to the same address, or you can view the Website at .

Thank you in advance for helping us highlight all that the Bath/Brunswick region has to offer our visitors!
Harry Hopcroft,

New Faces, New Places

There are a number of new businesses that have opened Downtown in the last few months. How I miss Jane Morse (on many levels), who used to write an article for the MSB newsletter called New Faces, New Places. Be sure to familiarize yourself with these new businesses and welcome them!

Nova Trapeze Yoga
Bath Brewing Company
Southgate Restaurant
No Coward Soul

And there a couple of other new businesses coming in very soon! Bath is buzzing.

Art Walk

Check out the new Art Walk rack card! Ash at Bath Printing worked closely with the artists to come up with this catchy design which shows how easy it is to walk to each of the locations in the Downtown. Ash, you rock!

What are YOU going to do to show your support the arts and let people know what you have to offer?
Enough for now. If you read through this whole email, reach around and pat yourself on the back, you are in the know!

I'm going to press send before anything wonky can happen again.

Have a great weekend.
