Main Street Bath Merchant News

Howdy Business Friends,

No, no zombies, but maybe that would be a fun night to start up...

Bravo on opening your last Business Email, my stats were up! I dream of a day when I don't hear a business owner say, "I didn't know about that."

Take a breeze through the below information. There are so many people who make each one of the below headings a reality. How are you getting involved? Don't forget, you are always welcome and encouraged to come to committee meetings. Decisions are made by those who show up. You can see what committees there are and what time they meet here.

And don't forget, if you have a special event coming up, please get it on the Community Calendar so everyone else knows as well!

Mayfair is May 5th!

We have some exciting changes for Mayfair this year. MSB is partnering with the Coastal Journal for the City Wide Yard Sale portion of the day. Folks who are having yard sales will fill out a form that is int he Coastal Journal or they can get it digitally. The CJ will create a spread in the paper with the yard sale information as well as the Downtown activities. We project this partnership will hep spread the information further than ever before! This is the link to the yard sale entry form.

So what are YOU doing for Mayfair? Some spring cleaning for a sidewalk sale? Some other special activity? If you want the world to know, you too can get an ad in that will be included in the spread of the Coastal Journal. People will be in Bath, please help us to get them into your businesses! Contact the CJ for more information. There is the potential for reaching up to 10,000 people!

And our fabulous volunteer, Roberta Jordan, has organized a number of family/kid friendly activities. I have a Morse student making up a fresh poster for this year so stay tuned!

And a BIG shout out to MW Sewall for continuing to sponsor Mayfair. Thank you!

Best of the Best

Down East Magazine is doing their annual Best of the Best for businesses around Maine. I know we have some of the best of the best right here in Bath so let's get the word out to others! Take a few minutes to vote for your favorite local businesses and get your friends/customers to do the same. Spread this link around and let's do this! Best of the Best

Art Walk Update

Well, to make a long story short, the Third Friday Art Walk is ON for 2018! The artists have come together and are going to make this the best Art Walk yet. The schedule will be the same, the Third Friday of June-September from 4:00-7:00. How can you show that you love and support the arts? maybe stay open a bit later on those nights? Maybe put an easel outside your store to encourage the inner artist of people walking by? Think about it, we've got some time. We're stronger when we do things as a group. Let's work together to bring people into the Downtown to shop, dine and celebrate the incredible art that we have here in Bath, Maine!

Storefronts the Sell

The Maine Downtown Center held a workshop in Bath back in February about storefronts that sell. They filmed the event and are charging for it for communities that are not official Main Streets. You're in luck because we ARE an official Main Street! If you'd like to get a link to see this video, just let me know and I'll get you hooked up. It is a 75 minute presentation but well worth the time, I know that I learned a lot from it.

Reply to this email if you want the link and I'll send it to you. Good stuff.

Heritage Days

And of course Heritage Days is well underway. Johnny Lomba (who is also opening up No Coward Soul in the former Solo Bistro space in a few weeks) is coordinating efforts this year with the whole team of volunteers who make this special Bath festival happen which brings tens of thousands of people into our Downtown. Stay tuned FMI, or if you'd like to be part of the planning, let me know. There will be another HD meeting coming up soon.

And a BIG thank you to my husband, Dan, of Maine Hosting Solutions, for rebuilding the Heritage Days website.... again. It looks fantastic and it has been done as a donation all of these years. And just a little reminder, when we talk about shopping locally, this doesn't just mean retail. We have a number of website folks in this area who support our community by keeping things local and shopping at your businesses. Is your online presence done locally?
Enough info for now. Thanks for taking a few minutes to stay informed. i know you're all busy but this is stuff we are all working on together for the betterment of our city.

And Maybe we should think some more about that zombie night idea.....
